"Get that camera out of my face"

Elk.

Get a copy of the Elk Video that I took with the quirky little video function on the digital camera. (mpeg-1, 5.7 megabytes.)

Now we've moved on to the Begich-Boggs Visitor Center in Portage.

This place was windy the last time we were here. Its still windy....

Nicely carved snow.

Portage Lake. Of course the camera operator has forgotten about white balance again.

More sculpted snow.

Karen and Debra looking at, apparently, nothing.

Karen, Debra, and Tammy, looking at nothing. John has the good sense to be looking out on a world-class winter alpine view.

Karen (to scale). Alaskan mosquito - also to scale.

We had time to pop off a kayaking trip to Prince William Sound, just down the road in Whittier. Either that or I convinced Karen to get into the diorama and fake it.

Obedient tourists doing what they are supposed to be doing with the exhibits.

Twenty degrees, 45 mph wind. Fortunately, at our backs.

A hillside. If you take that road to the right, you will end up in Whittier where, I am assured, it will be shittier.

A strange snow structure on the bird feeder at Scott and Kim's house.

The following shots are from Scott and Kim's front window; they have a nice view of the Knik Arm.
